The 40th Reunion Celebration Weekend is in the books - and what a fun packed weekend it was! (See below for information on how to get a Souvenir Reunion Memory Book.)
The kick-off Meet & Greet at Mr. Joe's Bar was a great night of reconnecting with our former classmates. We virtually took over the restaurant as the room filled with the laughter of old friends, reminiscing the days at SHS, warm embraces and steady picture taking! It was a blast by every measure!
Saturday started with the SHS tour hosted by current principal Mike Horn. Sometimes hard to recognize - the facility has been the beneficiary of more than $60 million in renovations in the past several years - including two new houses (Houses C & D), classroom technology, a state of the art Fieldhouse (new gym), corporate-like cafeteria (no more open campus for lunch!), and impressive engineering and science labs. Most importantly, the focus is on academics, discipline, a college prop culture, and assistance to apply for college scholarships around the country. In 2013, SHS students successfully earned $8.8 million in scholarships. Great job, Principal Horn!
Saturday night was the pinnacle of the weekend as 140 classmates and guests from around the country joined together at the Westin Hotel for a delicious strolling dinner, music, catching up with old friends and plenty more picture taking! An afterglow party followed with a late-night toast to friends, far and wide, and a rememberance of those passed.
We will be keeping this website live until we meet again in order to stay current with contact information and the latest news from our class. Please check in with us from time to time, let us know if your email changes, submit your favorite photos from the weekend or years past, share memorials.
Many thanks to everyone that traveled far and wide as well as those still in the Michigan area that took time out of their busy lives to be a part of this incredible reunion experience.
Stay safe, healthy and happy......until we meet again!
